本を返して

三年生の話

授業が始まっても本を読んでいるP君。授業中だから本を片付けるように言います。

「もう授業がはじまっているんだから、本を閉じなさい。」
"Class has begun. Close your book, right now."
「ええ、やだよ。まだ読みたい。」
"Nah, I don't want to."
「四の五の言わずにサッサと片付ける。はい、あと三秒以内に片付けないと没収だよ。」
"I'm not asking. I'm telling. You got 3 seconds, otherwise that book will be mine."
「後ちょっとだけ、ちょっとだけ！」
"Just one more chapter, just one more!"
「３、２、１、はーい時間切れ。没収!」
"3,2,1, time's up. This is mine now."




授業が終わった後、本を返してくれるようP君が頼みに来ました。

「先生、本返してよ。」
"Can I get my book back?"
「え、なんで？」
"Why? I don't think so."
「だって、あれ僕の本だし。」
"But that is my book."
「違うよ。あれはもう君の本じゃなくて僕の物だよ。」
"Not anymore. It's mine now."
「返してって言ってるのに、どうして返してくれないの？」
"I am asking to give me back? Why?"
「うーん、僕が本と閉じるように言っても、無視したでしょ？同じだね。」
"Well...... you did not close your book when I told you."
「本かえしてよー。」(半泣き)
"Give me back my book."
「だめだね。最後の日に、通知表を受け取りに来たお母さんに返すよ。」
"Nope. On the last day of the school, your mother can ask for it."
「なんでー！先生なんか大キライ！」
"I hate you!"
「そいつは残念だぁね。」
"Ah, that's too bad."
「校長先生にいいつけてやる！」
"I am going to tell your principal."
「そいつは名案だ。はい、この紙に書いてね。」
"Sounds like a good idea. Here is a paper."



半ベソをかきながらP君が紙に苦情を書き始めます。

「先生が僕の本を盗んだ泥棒だって書くからね。」
"I am writing that you stole my book. You are thief."
「そいつはとんだ思い違いだね。君のお母さんがくれば返してあげるって言ったでしょ。そもそも、没収されたのは君の責任でしょ？」
"That is not true. You will get it back when your mother asks for it. First of all, it was your fault that your book was taken away."
「関係ないね。校長先生に先生は泥棒だって苦情を書くんだから。」
"I don't care. I am writing to your principal that you are the thief."
「はいはい、ちゃんと最後にサインと日付をいれろよ。なになに、『オカムラ先生は僕の本を盗んだ泥棒です。』これだけでいいの？」
"All right then. Make sure that you sigh and date it. Let me see......'Mr. Okamura is a thief. He stole a book from me." Is this it? It does not really tell a whole story."
「これで十分。今からこれを事務室にもっていくから。」
"Yeah, this is enough. I am taking this to the office."
「行ってらっしゃい。」
"OK. Bye."
「本当に行くよ。いいの？」
"Are you sure? I am really going."
「いいよいいよ。」
"Yeah, go ahead."



P君が事務室から帰ってきます

「先生、何を読んでるの？」
"What are you reading?"
「うん？生徒指導帳だよ。『事実に基づかない非難』がどの罰則に当たるのか調べておこうと思ってね。」
"Yeah? This is Student Code of Conduct. I am looking up the punishment for the false accusation."
「何の事？」
"What are you talking about?"
「ほら、君の告訴状は全くの嘘でしょ？お、あったあった、レベル３だね。三日の停学処分かぁ。なかなかヘビーだね。」
"See, your letter of complaint was not based on the truth. Oh, I found it. It is level 3 offense, and 3 days suspension. Geee, this is pretty heavy."
「事務室にちょっと行く用事が、、、、」
"I think I need to go back to the office...."


インターカムから校長の声が聞こえます。

「もしもし、オカムラ先生？先生の生徒から手紙を手渡されたんだけど。」
"Mr. Okamura, I just received a letter from your student."
「放課後に詳しい事情を説明します。ところで、「事実に基づかない非難」って三日の停学処分ですか？」
"I will explain that after school. By the way, what is the penalty for the false accusation? Is it 3 days suspension?"
「いや、最低三日で最高五日の停学ですよ。」
"Um.... minimum 3 days up to 5 days, I believe."
「いやだあああああああ！」
"Nooooooooo!"

補足
もちろん停学にはなりませんよ。でも、来週の金曜日まで本は僕の机の中ですけど。
